Why is the garbage disposal making a loud noise?
Too much food or an inappropriate object may have entered the garbage disposal. To remove the object or food:
- Unplug the garbage disposal. The plug for the garbage disposal is generally located on the back wall, under the sink
- Put on kitchen gloves (if desired), reach hand into garbage disposal, and remove object or food from disposal.
- Plug the garbage disposal back in, turn on water, and turn on garbage disposal to verify that problem has been resolved.
- If the problem has not been resolved, unplug the garbage disposal and try removing object or food again.
If the garbage disposal is still making a noise or you prefer not to remove the object or food, submit a Request through the Resident Center. Generally, this issue is not a standard maintenance item, so a cost will be charged to your account.
