Why is the water not draining from the washing machine?

Using the wrong detergent is the most common reason that the washing machine does not drain.  High-efficiency (also called front loading) washing machines require high-efficiency detergent.

To drain the water from the washing machine, select the ‘drain and spin’ or ‘speed cycle.’  Do not add any detergent during this cycle. If the water does not drain from the washing machine, submit a Request through the Resident Center.
